Case Study Client
business name Synopsis Debra, owner of 'Facial and Body Artworks' in Martinez, California, had an attractive printed brochure, and needed a web site to compliment her marketing strategy. Ideally she wanted the website to mirror her brochure. Same look and feel of her printed peice. Project Initiation Debra signed up for the 'Enterprise Web Site' plan, using her domain name facialandbodyartworks.com. She also requested to have the content of the 2 page brochure fit onto one page of the site, as opposed to 2 or more pages. As a template to go by, she chose number 025 from our template library. This would give us the basic structure to go by. (See template image above right). Since the content would be the same as the brochure, she had her graphic designer, who produced the brochure, send all the relevant files on a CD to us. (See brochure images to the right). Design After close study of how the brochure was layed out versus how the template was layed out, first thing we did was skeletonize the template, removing all un-needed tables, navigation buttons, and artwork. What we were left with was just about a blank page. We made the template into a three column page, resembling the brochure. We then took the logo and integrated it into the header artwork. Production Since we had all the content from the brochure in editable electronic/digital files (text was not flattened, rasterized, or made to paths or outlines). We were able to pick up the text and use it in the site with only some reformatting. All images were resized and optimized for web use. The photo of the two women back-to-back was cropped to work better with column length and to reduce the size of that image. (See website image to the right). Final We were able to compliment the brochure with an attractive web site, including all text content and images, plus a couple additional images that tied the web site together very well. Debra is very happy with her web site and always refers us to her own clients. You can see the final product here: facialandbodyartworks.com By the way, if you are ever in the Martinez area, give Debra a call for any of the professional services she provides including Permanent Cosmetics, Body treatments, and Facials.
